Team Vosbergen Racing Make Motorplex Debut

The Team Vosbergen racing dirt Late Models looked resplendent prior to the start of proceedings last Saturday, it’s just a shame the results weren’t there to match the presentation come the end of the night.

The night certainly had its ups and downs literally from the start. "The Rocket Man" Craig Vosbergen looked the goods in race one having a three way battle for the lead, only to see lapped traffic force him infield at mid race distance and causing enough damage to the steering to see the Worldwide Construction Machinery/Racin Tyres/Valvoline #8 Rocket parked for the final six laps.

Team mate and father "Big Bad Bert" Vosbergen also had an eventful opening stanza. He moved from tenth to sixth only to see it all come undone at the mid race restart after making contact with another competitor and being implicated as the cause of another restart. From the rear of the field he sliced his way back to a respectable sixth position at the checkered flag.

He continued on in race number two battling it out in the top three, only to nearly have it all come undone trying to avoid a slowing car in turn three. With minimal damage he returned to the race, making a brilliant last corner lunge to take out a fine second. Craig’s woe’s continued as this was going on. “The repairs were fine, its just that on the second lap I tore off all my tear offs, so I had to hang back far enough to lift my visor so I could see” he said after salvaging a fifth place finish.

Come the final race and a fourth place start for veteran Bert looked promising, but a huge bicycle coming out of turn two in the early laps left the Worldwide Construction Machinery/Racin Tyres/Valvoline #4 too far back to make up ground on the three other competitors fighting it out in front of him, coming home in what could be said as a solid fourth place and 4th overall on points.

Meanwhile Craig had nothing to lose starting from the rear of the field, and passed a number of cars to finish up with a fine fifth behind Bert in the final race, but only scoring a 8th in the final motorplex point standings for the evening.

So as you can see not ideal, but by no means a terrible night for the TVR Late Model team.

Be sure to catch both Bert and Craig taking on the states best Late Models at their next meeting on the 8th of November at the Perth Motorplex.
