Team Vosbergen Perth Motorplex Weekend Wrap Up

Last weekend at the Perth Motorplex Team Vosbergen racing drivers Bert and Craig Vosbergen competed in two separate divisions, Bert in the WA Super Sedan Title, and Craig in the Kart World Belmont Dirt Late Models.

The weekend started out on the Friday evening when “Big Bad Bert” in the Worldwide Machinery/Royal Wolf Containers Pantera competed in night 1 of the WA Super Sedan title. It would start out as a dream run with Bert hitting the lead and putting distance between himself and second place. There were a number of restarts at the start of this race and each time Bert would take the #4 machine out to the lead. Midway through the race some debris from the track would dislodge a water pipe from the car forcing him to slow dramatically and finish out the race in 3rd. That would be the end of the weekend for Bert Vosbergen.

For Craig Vosbergen Saturday night would get off to a great start. He managed to get a front row starting position and that was all he needed, slicing his way through lapped traffic and increasing his lead over the 12 lap race to nearly ¾ of a lap. It was a dominating display by “The Rocket Man” and a race that showcased Dirt Late Models to there extreme.

Race 2 had Craig starting out of mid pack in the 20 car field and he quickly took the Worldwide Machinery/Royal Wolf Containers Rocket to the front of the back in a dice with Ben Ludlow. The two would again clear out in front and were joined by a fast finishing Jason Oldfield. Craig would finish second in this heat which would give him a front row start for the final.

The Final heat had Craig on the front row. He quickly jumped out in front of the pack and was into lapped traffic by lap 4. This slowed him slightly and Ben Ludlow made up some ground and passed Craig in lapped traffic. This is how it would stay until the last corner of the last lap when Ben got tangled up in lapped cars giving Craig Vosbergen the win and overall victory for the night in the Perth Motorplex track championship.

The Team Vosbergen Racing freight train now moves on to Northam Motorsports Park for the Firecracker 50 this Saturday night. This is one of the blue ribbon events for the season for Dirt Late Models and an event I know both Bert and Craig would like to win.

This weekend will be the first appearance of the Bert Vosbergen Rocket after receiving his engine from the USA. He is eager to get going and run against the #8 car of his son.
