Vosbergen Survives Boxing The Night Carnage

Boxing Night 2007 was a rough & tumble affair for all Dirt Late Model competitors at the Perth Motorplex.

With 26 cars in the pits and the ever favorable 3 x 12 laps dash races, it was going to be tough from where ever you landed a position on the track.

Heat 1 had both the Team Vosbergen Machines on the racetrack together for the first time in 07/08 with Craig out of position 6 & Big Bad Bert coming from the rear of the pack in his Worldwide Machinery/Valvoline/Rocket.

Bert's night wouldn't last long with gearbox troubles early in the night preventing him from competing any further.

Craig Vosbergen started out of 6 and as expected the leaders were again onto lapped traffic very quickly. Craig got up into second position behind the much improved Warren Oldfield. As they sliced their way through the lapped traffic, the two were clear leaders with "The Rocket Man" Craig Vosbergen finishing in second position.

Heat 2 would be where the carnage started with craig coming form near the rear in the reverse grid format. As he again came up to the top 3 cars looking for the move into second lapped cars once again decided to race the faster cars bringing the #8 Worldwide Machinery/Valvoline/Rocket undone and parked up against the wall on the back straight, officials deemed it a racing incident, the checkers waved and Craig finished in 14th position.

Final time and another 12 laps sprint dash for over 20+ Dirt Late Models, Craig came out of the fifth row in this race & quickly accounted for the cars in front to be on the leaders with in a few laps. Back at the front competing with the #15 of Oldfield & #99 of Ryan Halliday, the three took off from the pack dicing in & out of lapped traffic to cross the line in those positions.

So overall for the night Craig Vosbergen in the #8 Worldwide Machinery/Valvoline/Rocket would finish in second position overall after the Perth Motorplex adjusted the points they didn't add into the heat 2 results.

The next race meeting for Team Vosbergen Racing will be the WA Dirt Late Model Title at Northam Motorsport's Park on January 19th with the addition of the third TVR car for 2008 the USA visiting "Ohio Outlaw" Doug Drown driving the Racin tyres house car.
