Team Vosbergen Podium Finish @ Krikke Boys

Team Vosbergen Racing's Bert & Craig Vosbergen & the Dirt Late Models ventured to the Bunbury City Speedway bullring last Saturday night for Rd2 Of the DJ Pools/New Style Dirt Late Model Southern Nationals.

The team going into this round were very confident after the Rd 1 success of Craig Vosbergen at Narrogin Speedway, also the 60 year old legend "Big Bad Bert" Vosbergen would be back out in his Worldwide Machinery/Hoosier/Rocket & a brand new engine combination and would definitely make a few people stand up & take notice.

Heat 1 for the boys had Bert on the front row & Craig out of position 5, from the drop of the green flag "Big Bad Bert' was outta there, he put a half lap lead on the field and kept pulling away, it was like watching the Bert Vosbergen of old, every lap he put together was getting quicker & smoother each time. Back in the field Craig Vosbergen lost brakes on the first corner giving him quite a scary moment, he had to get the car back under control & settle in and finish the race where he could with an ill handling car.

Heat 2 and again both the Team Vosbergen Worldwide Machinery/Royal Wolf/Hoosier/Rockets were back out on the track together, this time it was "The Rocket Man" who got the jump from the front row & was never headed, he also put a half lap lead on the field for the heat race and again was putting in some serious lap times knocking on some of the quickest ever seen at the Bunbury venue for Dirt Late Models. Back in the field "Big Bad Bert" had to contend with a left front tire going down after driving over some ones starter motor, but he was still quick and settled in second behind the #12 machine of Craig Vosbergen, but again he drove over the same piece of debre on the track and had a right rear tire also go down so Bert limped in with a 6th position.

Those results would have a complete second row of the final of TVR cars with Craig out of 3 & Bert from 4, from the drop of the green flag "Big Bad Bert" snuck in behind pole sitter Brad Blake and the two disappeared away from the field, while Craig settled back in fourth position until a few laps later he got to third & set out to chase Bert Vosbergen.

As the race got further into the 25 lap distance leader Brad Blake was being pushed by the 40 year Speedway veteran "Big Bad Bert" Vosbergen, it was a credit to his driving skills on the night to be able to push the former 3 time Dirt Late Model Nationals champion all the way to the finish line and behind the #4 Craig Vosbergen was also pushing his Dad to the line.

It was a great result for Team Vosbergen Racing and it was like watching the Bert & Craig battles of old, the two were clearly the fastest cars on the night and looks good going into this weekends "King of Kwinana" at the Perth Motorplex.

After the meeting the two drivers has these remarks to say during presentations:

(Bert) "It was great to show the old bloke still has it, it is also great to give my guys Eric & Cameron a result it has been a long & tough season for us with mechanical failures, and with out these two guys I just would not be able to race, but we are now on top of things now and I believe I can give the young guns a shake up in the last few rounds of this season, watch out the big dog is back. I would also like to thank my son Craig and the entire Team Vosbergen sponsors as combined we are a great team"

(Craig) "We had a brake drama in the first one but Adam, Jay, Brent, Baz & Ray got on top of it for me and gave me a car that was good to drive for the final, I thought I had something for the old boy but he was quick tonight, we will get him next week and we look forward to the last few rounds of the series, I would like to thank Brian from Worldwide Machinery, and all our TVR Sponsors whom with out them we just would not be able to race, I thank the crowd & all the Dirt Late Model teams tonight, this division is going places and i am glad to be apart of its success"

Craig Vosbergen now holds a 30 point lead in the Kart World Belmont Pro Dirt Points standings with two points rounds to go.
