MOTORPLEX “MAGIC MAN 34” – 6th November 2010

With us all paying tribute to one of the greatest guys to ever sit his butt in a racecar “ Figs the Magic Man” and just an all round good guy to boot, this event is one of the biggest of our race season.

One of the biggest crowds seen at the motorplex got to witness some great racing in all classes on the fast, muddy & rough motorplex!!

Craig in his #8 Rocket was coming into this weekend with 2 podiums in the past 2 events but yet to take the winners cheque home, this was again the case with some a strong 2nd place finish in the motorplex final. With a 5th & 4th in the qualifying heats he was able to move from his position 4 starting position up to 2nd by the chequer.

Frustrated at times by unnecessary contact in different races the #8 was loaded into the TVR hauler with a few more wrinkled panels than the team had wished for but overhaul Craig was happy with the outcome and can put this down as another consistent run with some good points towards the R2C Pro Dirt Series championship and Motorplex Track Championship.
It’s early in the season but 3 podiums (2nd,3rd,2nd) is a good start to the season and with all the late model teams heading off to Narrogin Speedway 2 hours south of Perth for the next event on the 20th November, a venue where Craig has won previously has the TVR crew looking forward to this one!!

Big Bad Bert in his new Sweet Chassis struggled to find the right setup for the tough conditions and came home with a 6th in his qualifying heat and 6th & 11th in the twin features. Given that Bert has been ill for the past week with a virus and probably shouldn’t have even been out there this was a good result. Anyone that knows Bert well enough can understand that trying to tell him to stay at home and rest instead of going racing was never going to be an option!!
Bert has however been advised not to race this weekend in Albany and concentrate on getting back to full fitness in the lead up to the WA State Championship coming up in Mid December.
The #4 super sedan will be heading to practice and has one more event at the motorplex on the 27th November to get dialed in and will certainly be a front runner when the big race comes around.
